ZAKK WYLDE: Guitar Deal Gone Wrong?

May 24, 2006

A number of Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE) fans have written in to voice their displeasure over a deal allegedly offered by the chopper company 357 Customs whereby anyone who bought a $100 gift certificate to their online store for their merchandise and a miniature model of a chopper (three colors available that match Zakk's custom Epiphone guitars) would automatically receive the same-color Epiphone actual model (valued at $799) for "free." A BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor — who has set up a blog cataloging the events that have transpired since this deal was initially made available — has sent in the following message regarding the matter:

"A summary of what happened was the chopper company 357 Customs that has been reported on your site before that gave away custom choppers to Zakk's fans came out with a deal in December of 2005. In a move to get their name out there to compete with West Coast Choppers and Orange County Choppers they had a special deal where you bought a $100 gift certificate to their online store for their merchandise, and a miniature model of a chopper (three colors available that matchZakk's custom Epiphone guitars) and you get the same color Epiphone actual model (valued at $799) for free. There were subsiquent deals that ran through until March of this year and many people got in on this. These deals were promoted on ZakkWylde.com bulletin board and numerous forums throughout the Internet. The first guitars were supposed to ship at the end of March. Only a handful of guitars have actually been delivered out of hundreds.

"It has come to the point that the company has promised to refund everyone's money and still deliver on the goods. Zakk's management has intervened, because Zakk had no knowledge of this before they did it. He is not happy about how everything has turned out especially with his name all over it without his consent."
